After research on scientists, the land area on the earth was 148 million square kilometers, accounting for 29%of the total area of the earth, and the remaining 71%of the area was ocean. In other words, there are not many land available on the earth for human living.
Among them, the desert accounts for 10.11%of the land area. Even more severe, the area of the desert on the planet is still expanding at a rate of 60,000 square kilometers per year. For places such as Africa, Arabian Peninsula, and Australia, the desert area has occupied most of them.
The desert always gives people a sense of mystery. Whenever the wind blows through the desert, a storm can be set off, covering a mysterious veil for the desert. When it comes to the desert, people may think of a few camels walking in the endless desert.
The desert has long hours of sunshine. The sunshine time in the desert is more than 3,000 hours per year, and the sunshine time in the Sahara Desert is more than 4,000 hours per year.
The average temperature of the Shahara Desert during the day is close to 40 degrees Celsius, but it can be reduced to-4 degrees Celsius at night. When the night comes, the desert will appear extreme day and night temperature difference. The main reason for the sudden change in desert temperature is the sand in the desert.
Sand is the main feature of a desert. Unlike other materials, sand doesn't store heat for long. After a day of sun exposure, the stone also takes on a temperature at night, slowly releasing the heat accumulated during the day. But the sand is always cold at night.
The area of the desert is indeed very large. About one-third of the land on the earth is desert. The desert is barren, less precipitation, and almost no vegetation. Most of the deserts are accumulated from sand.
You can feel the dryness of the air in the desert. Some deserts have no vegetation at all, making people feel a desolate feeling.
Desertification is the process by which vegetation is destroyed and the ground loses its cover, changing into a desert-like landscape under the influence of dry weather and high winds. Desertification mainly occurs in arid and semi-arid areas.
The key factor in desert formation is climate. But the native vegetation at the edge of the desert may be grassland, simply deserted by unreasonable human activity.
Among the many ecological environment issues facing humans, the desertification of land is the most serious. In recent years, due to the continuous intensification of human activities, the degree of desertification and the problems brought by it have been increasing. It is urgent to prevent the prevention and treatment of land desertification.
