We all love stories of young athletes breaking new ground, and Jay Noah Idzes is one of the most exciting examples in football today. Born on June 2, 2000, in Mierlo, Netherlands, Jay stands 6-foot-3 and plays as a commanding center-back.
Beyond his club achievements, he has also created history on the international stage by representing Indonesia. Lykkers, his story reminds us that talent, hard work, and smart career moves can open doors across continents.

Early Football Days in the Netherlands

Jay’s football journey began at Mifano before joining PSV Eindhoven’s youth academy in 2009. He also spent time at VVV-Venlo before returning to PSV, where he developed crucial defensive skills. In April 2018, he made his professional debut with Eindhoven against TOP Oss, entering as a late substitute. Even at this stage, we could see his potential to become a reliable and influential defender, someone capable of commanding the back line and making strategic plays.

Key Role at Go Ahead Eagles

In July 2020, Jay transferred to Go Ahead Eagles after a prolonged transfer saga. Eindhoven initially thought his contract had ended, but both clubs agreed on a fee. At Go Ahead Eagles, he quickly established himself as a key defender. Over two seasons, Jay made 84 appearances and scored 2 goals, helping the team gain promotion to the Eredivisie. We see how his consistent performances in the Dutch leagues prepared him for challenges on bigger stages.

Italian Breakthrough with Venezia

Summer 2023 marked a major turning point in Jay’s career. He signed a four-year contract with Venezia in Serie B. In his debut season, he appeared 30 times across competitions, scoring three goals and helping Venezia win promotion to Serie A via playoffs after a thrilling 1-0 victory over Cremonese. On August 25, 2024, Jay made his Serie A debut against Fiorentina, becoming the first Indonesian to play in Italy’s top league. Lykkers, it’s exciting to imagine the pride and excitement of that historic moment!

Historic Serie A Goal

Jay’s milestones continued when he scored his first Serie A goal on December 14, 2024, in a 2-2 draw with Juventus. This made him the first Indonesian and Southeast Asian player to score in Italy’s top league, marking a historic achievement for both his career and Indonesian football. We can all appreciate how persistence, focus, and skill combined to create this unforgettable moment.

Signing with Sassuolo

In August 2025, newly promoted Serie A club Sassuolo signed Jay for €8 million plus €5 million in add-ons, with a contract running until June 2029. This move reflects the club’s confidence in his defensive abilities and potential to grow into one of Serie A’s top defenders. For us, it’s thrilling to follow a young player who, at only 25, is already making waves in one of Europe’s toughest leagues.

International Career with Indonesia

Despite being born in the Netherlands, Jay chose to represent Indonesia through his Indonesian grandfather in 2023. After gaining citizenship in December 2023, he debuted internationally on March 21, 2024, in a 1-0 victory against Vietnam during World Cup qualifiers. Just five days later, he scored his first international goal in a 3-0 away win over Vietnam. Since then, he has often captained the national team, showing leadership and maturity beyond his years. Lykkers, it’s inspiring to see how Jay bridges cultures while leaving his mark on the world stage.

A Journey Worth Following

Jay Noah Idzes’ career is a perfect example of how talent, heritage, and perseverance can create extraordinary opportunities. From youth academies in the Netherlands to Serie A stadiums and international glory with Indonesia, his story motivates us all. Lykkers, let’s keep cheering for Jay as he continues to break records, make history, and inspire football fans across the globe!
