Some skincare products quietly earn a permanent place on the shelf. They are not necessarily the flashiest launches, but they make a routine feel easier, more effective and much more enjoyable.
These three are very different from one another, yet each stands out for a specific reason.

1. The Ordinary Retinol 1% in Squalane — 9/10

Price: around €10
This is the strongest and most treatment-focused product of the three. The Ordinary Retinol 1% in Squalane has an oily, lightweight texture that spreads easily across the skin and feels more comfortable than many traditional retinol formulas.
What makes it appealing is how direct it is. There are no unnecessary extras — just a high-strength retinol formula in a squalane base. With consistent use, it can be a useful option for improving the appearance of uneven texture, fine lines and dull-looking skin.
The only reason I would not give it a perfect score is the strength. Beginners may find 1% retinol too ambitious as a first step, so this is definitely a product that deserves a gradual introduction rather than enthusiasm on night one.

2. Beauty of Joseon Revive Eye Serum — 9.2/10

Price: around €17
Eye products can easily feel like the most optional part of skincare, but this one has enough personality to make the category interesting again.
The Revive Eye Serum combines ginseng with retinal and has a silky, serum-like texture rather than the thick consistency of a classic eye cream. It feels lightweight around the eyes and absorbs without leaving a greasy layer behind.
I particularly like it when the under-eye area looks tired or slightly dry because the finish feels nourishing without becoming heavy. The retinal also makes it more treatment-oriented than a basic hydrating eye cream, which gives the product a little more purpose.

3. Dot & Key Barrier Repair Moisturizer — 8.8/10

Price: around €8
This is the least dramatic product here, but probably the easiest one to use regularly.
The ceramide-based moisturiser has a comfortable creamy texture and is designed around hydration and barrier support. It is exactly the kind of product I appreciate when my skincare routine has already included enough active ingredients and my skin simply needs something calming and dependable.
It leaves the skin feeling softer and more cushioned without making the face feel overloaded. There is nothing particularly theatrical about it, but sometimes that is precisely what makes a moisturiser good.
These three products earn their place for completely different reasons. The Ordinary brings the active treatment, Beauty of Joseon makes eye care feel worthwhile, and Dot & Key offers the comfortable barrier support that keeps stronger routines from feeling excessive.
They are not interchangeable, but together they represent the kind of skincare products I tend to keep reaching for: practical, focused and easy to understand.
